Spread out over three floors, this recently refurbished and spacious cottage is bright and inviting and would be a wonderful getaway for families, or a group of friends, who enjoy long walks in historic woodlands followed by lazy evenings in a cosy home.
On arrival you'll find a large hallway leading into the living room, the hub of the house, a perfect spot to settle in and plan your day with a cup of tea. There are three comfy sofas offering plenty of room for everyone as well as soothing blue walls and some tasteful art.
The ground floor also has a big modern kitchen, with a butler sink and a range cooker, fully equipped to prepare a snack or a feast, and a lovely dining room with an eight seater table where you can while away the evening over a long, lazy supper.
There's also a utility room and a rear hallway where you can leave your coats and boots after a big ramble in the woods.
Heading up to the first floor you'll find two large bedrooms, both with super king size beds that can be zipped apart to make twins if required. Both rooms have lots of storage space and are simply decorated in pale colours with pretty art on the walls. There's also a large, modern family bathroom with tiled floors, a separate shower and bath, heated towel rails and plenty of complimentary products for you to enjoy.
Up on the next floor you'll find two large attic bedrooms, both with twin beds that can be made up into super kings, with hanging space and a chest of drawers. Both rooms are light and airy and there's a second bathroom with a large enclosed shower and a toilet.
A private garden provides a wonderful place to gather together on clement evenings for a BBQ served alfresco around the large wooden dining table, and if it gets a little chilly you can light the chiminea and enjoy the peace and quiet of your idyll in the woods. Whilst the garden is enclosed and safe for children, there is a pathway from here directly into the park where you can enjoy woodland walks, a maze, playground and pretty arboretum.
There's a fabulous local artisan bakery, The Friendly Loaf, which is only a seven minute walk through the park from the cottage, so you might like to head off for an early morning wander and return with delicious baked goods for breakfast. Other local attractions include Abbey Gardens, St Edmundsbury Cathedral and Bury St Edmunds town centre which has an excellent farmers market on the second Sunday of the month. Greene King Brewery hosts a tour twice weekly and if you're looking for somewhere fancy to eat the owners recommend Pea Porridge on Cannon Street which boasts a Michelin Star.
