Walking through the historic walled gardens to this grand country manor you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Radiating charm and steeped in history, the elegant red-brick property will whisk you back to the Georgian era. Perfectly placed within an exclusive countryside retreat, you’ll be surrounded by delightful parklands and an abundance of wildlife for a truly tranquil country escape.
Stepping through the front door, you’ll discover an exquisite, tasteful adobe where antique charm meets contemporary design. In the beautifully appointed living room, natural light floods in through the huge, panelled windows. This is the perfect place to choose a book from the well-stocked bookcase and curl up on the leather sofa or in one of the comfortable armchairs. In cooler months, there’s a log burner to keep you warm. On the same floor, you’ll also find a snug, decked out with comfy sofas and a widescreen TV, which makes a great teenage hangout or movie room.
The spotless, country kitchen is kitted out with all the appliances you could possibly need and has a round table for informal eating. Or if you’re in the mood for a fancier feast, head to the dining room which boasts a dining table table for eight and looks out onto the well-kept garden.
An unexpected treat in this heritage property is the large games room, with a table tennis table, plenty of space for spectators and bi-fold doors opening out onto the garden.
Heading up the stairs to the first floor, you’ll find four tastefully decorated bedrooms. The master boasts an ensuite and there’s also a double room and two twins. All rooms come with premium mattresses, luxury linen and fluffy, white towels. This floor is also home to a contemporary family bathroom with bath and walk-in shower.
Outside, there’s a private one-acre garden with a lush green lawn to enjoy, and access to the upper and lower walled gardens, which are shared with other guests. All gardens offer fabulous views over the private parkland.
There’s plenty to discover at Woodhall Estate, with countless country walks literally on your doorstep. And if you fancy a spot of culture after immersing yourself in nature, the charming city of St Albans, with its stunning cathedral and lovely independent shops, is less than 20 miles away.
