Originally a working cow shed, this beautiful and surprisingly spacious refurbished barn sits at the foot of the Cambrian mountains, high up on a hill and would be perfect for a couple wanting to completely get away from it all.
You enter the barn through private French doors to an open plan kitchen, living and dining area with a wood burner for cosy nights in cuddled up on the sofa. The kitchen is bijou, modern in a country style and fully equipped for any feasts you might like to whip up. There's an oak table for two where you can languish over a candle-lit supper but, weather permitting, you might like to take your meal al fresco at the table in the garden. Vaulted ceilings give the space a light airy feel and the views over the meadow and valley beyond will make you feel immersed in nature.
There’s a spacious king sized en-suite bedroom overlooking the courtyard and fields beyond and you can drift off to sleep under soft white linen whilst listening to the tawny owls outside. And when you wake, the large rainfall shower will invigorate you before you set off on a glorious day of exploring the area or simply doing nothing much at all.
The barn is accessed via a rough farm track so don't rock up in a sports car! Bring your walking boots and binoculars though as there are plenty of footpaths from your doorstep with wildlife to enjoy all around. The place is wonderfully quiet and the only passing traffic are sheep and cows or the farmer tending them. The barn is surrounded by sheep fields and ancient oaks and is located in a designated dark sky area where the only shining lights at night are the stars.
Enjoy the view from various benches and swings dotted about the place, and when you fancy a pint make the 20 minute walk across the field to your local. There's good food to be had locally and if you fancy some sea air head to Borth Beach. The historic market town of Tregaron is five minutes drive away with shops, pubs, cafes and an amazing bakery. Don't forget your swimming things, you might also like to have a wild dip in one of the many secluded lakes and rivers in the area. If you'd like any recommendations for other places to visit your hosts will be very happy to help.
