The detail

Suiting both couples and families, the recently renovated East Lodge cottage is very well positioned for exploring the entire Northumberland coast. The home also has many luxurious elements along with a superb location on the edge of the old village of Belford, which ensure you're guaranteed an unforgettable stay.

The main house is a single-floor home centred around its open-plan living space with vaulted ceilings. At one end is the welcoming sitting room area which features a velvety, dark green sofa perfect for snuggling while watching the smart TV. Behind, is the fully equipped kitchen which boasts all the appliances you will need and a central island to gather around while you cook. A dining space features a table for four and double doors overlooking the patio and garden, a lovely spot to plan your adventures over a delicious meal.

A romantic, king size master bedroom suite sits below old, high rafters and boasts a freestanding bathtub next to an original, handsome red-brick wall. A cosy log burner provides extra warmth in this welcoming sanctuary. Contemporary furniture and a stylish marble ensuite bathroom with a rainforest shower, heated towel rail, basin and WC complete your sumptuous suite and guarantee rest and relaxation.

The second bedroom has a pair of three-foot bunks as well as a pull-out truckle bed which is ideal for children. There’s also a family bathroom featuring a large walk-in shower, and attractive pink cabinets.

Doors from the kitchen/living area lead out to a patio and a multi-level garden which is lent privacy by stone walls and tall trees. With a living willow den and tunnel for children and comfy outdoor seating, there is a space for all the family. A large cabin containing a kitchen, a sofa and wall-mounted TV is a perfect escape for sports fans or film screenings for restless children. A black, Scandinavian-style barrel sauna is ready to use, or you can relax in a large, two-person, wood-fired hot tub, which can also be used unheated for a cold plunge in combination with the sauna.

Your cosy home from home is within ambling distance of Belford’s village pubs, and a nice country walk from Spindlestone Ducket Mill, a photogenic 18th-century cylindrical stone tower. If you want to explore further afield, Budle Bay’s bird-rich mudflats are just three miles away. Very close too are wide sandy beaches, Bamburgh, with its iconic Norman castle, and Holy Island, while the nearby A1 makes it a cinch to explore north or south. Boat trips take in the wildlife of the Farne Islands, departing from Seahouses and Berwick-upon-Tweed bursts with shops and galleries.
