An idyllic, rustic, and super-comfy holiday home for large groups, Durslade Farmhouse offers up to 12 people a wonderful place to stay in the Somerset countryside. Located on the site of Hauser & Wirth Somerset, the farmhouse is a Grade II listed farm building that dates back to the 18th Century.
This holiday home is filled with character and features a number of bold design choices that combine perfectly with the original fittings and vintage furniture that feature throughout. The property was renovated by Argentinian architect Luis Laplace, and plenty of love and care has gone into each aspect of this fabulous farmhouse.
There are six bedrooms at Durslade Farmhouse, and each has its own unique character and style. The rooms have comfortable, antique beds, luxurious mattresses and Egyptian cotton linens, as well as original artwork by Hauser & Wirth artists. Each room also has its own private bathroom for added convenience, that feature striking free-standing bath tubs, the perfect place to relax after a day exploring the surrounding countryside.
The characterful farmhouse kitchen has all you need to cook up some wonderful meals for your group including a SMEG range. And the large table makes dinner times a joyous and social affair. After dinner relax in the living room in front of the fireplace and enjoy a glass of wine with your friends and loved ones.
If you don't fancy cooking, then you'll be pleased to know that Roth Bar & Grill is located a few steps across the courtyard from Durslade Farmhouse and can provide catering during your stay, providing you, if needed, with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests at the farmhouse are also welcomed on arrival with an afternoon tea of freshly baked scones or cake, homemade jam and local clotted cream. The kitchen also comes well stocked with olive oil, red wine vinegar, Weetabix, porridge oats, cling film, foil, baking parchment, fresh milk, local butter and eggs. You also have a Nespresso coffee machine, tea, sugar and even a jar of waffle mix for the waffle maker!
The farmhouse is located in the town of Bruton, and there are a number of lovely places to eat nearby. Previously a 17th Century coaching inn, located on Bruton’s High Street, At the Chapel houses a bakery, wine shop, and restaurant, and is well worth a visit. You can also head to Matt's Kitchen, which offers a cosy spot for supper in a warm and relaxed environment. Slightly further afield, The Bull Inn, in Hardway, is two miles from Dursdale Farmhouse and offers yet more great food. This is the sister establishment of The Roth Bar & Grill, and is a traditional freehouse offering a cosy atmosphere, open fires in the winter, and a fantastic pub garden in the summer.
Dursdale Farmhouse is also situated perfectly for lovers of the great outdoors. The Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is nearby and well worth exploring, with over 300 square miles of outstanding landscapes on offer, it's a walker's dream and is home to a number of pretty villages.
