This traditional picture perfect stone cottage, situated in the centre of a quiet village, in the heart of the English countryside, will enchant guests from the moment they set eyes on this pretty property. Intricate stone work features heavily on the exterior and stands as testament to the skills of the craftsmen who built the cottage over 200 years ago. A dry stone wall surrounds the house and visitors enter via a wooden gate into the front garden, which is brimming with mature foliage. This peaceful spot makes a lovely place to idle away the time, watching the village ducks waddle past on their way to the pond.
Stepping inside, through the beautiful porch, and the interior is no less charming. Modern traditional is the entirely appropriate style of decor with guests' relaxation and comfort at its heart. A country farmhouse style kitchen and dining room is a wonderful open plan space and great for socialising. As the cooks get on with chopping and mixing, friends can keep them company and help with important jobs such as filling glasses. A vintage oak table sits waiting to be covered with plates and dishes brimming with delicious food and this magical atmosphere will have dinners stretching out late into the evening.
When it's time to relax, head to the cosy living room which has two large and deep, pale grey sofas. They work beautifully with the light plum decor of the room and a wood burner adds to the tranquil vibes for reflective evenings relaxing after days enjoying the rolling pastures of the nearby countryside. Or, when the weather's warm, why not sit outside in the pretty back garden with its raised deck and comfy outdoor furniture? This is the ideal place to socialise long into the evening on warm summer days.
When bedtime beckons, there are three luxurious bedrooms to chose from, all beautifully decorated with beds dressed with luxurious crisp linens. The master has a king sized bed and wonderful ensuite bathroom with a freestanding bath tub for long evenings submerged in bubbles and soaking away the day. A further double also has a king sized bed, while the third has lovely wooden bunks which youngsters will love. A further family bathroom has a large walk-in shower, thick fluffy white towels and luxury toiletries.
When it's time to explore the area, there is plenty to discover from the historic Chatsworth House and Bolster Castle, to hiking and cycling trails, many which can be accessed by foot from the front door. For eating and drinking, make the short walk to The George for exceptional fine dining. For something more casual, try The Old Dog at Thorpe and Coach and Horses at Fenny Bentley, both traditional pubs offering a warm atmosphere and good pub food.
