This gorgeous Georgian cottage, hidden down a secret twitten in the North Laines, offers a real slice of bohemian Brighton and couldn't be more centrally located. Only a five minute-walk from Brighton's mainline station it is nestled in the heart of all that makes Brighton great; independent boutique shops, the finest eateries, clubs and characterful pubs. This really is a perfect spot for two or three couples, a family, or a small group of friends wanting to enjoy all that this lovely seaside town has to offer.
You'll enter to find a gloriously laid-back space filled with vintage and up-cycled objects and furniture. The furnishings range from mid-century tables and curious cabinets to colourful glassware, vintage textiles and amusing framed newspapers from days past - you'll be charmed by this eclectic home-from-home.
Created by an interior architect the cottage is cosy and unpretentious and you'll find lovely details throughout such as a shelf full of classic paperback penguin books, quirky art, DVDs, an abundance of plants and a patio with seating on a lush roof terrace. The beautiful open fire is perfect for chilly evenings with wine and board games after a meal cooked in the lovely kitchen fully stocked with gorgeous crockery. The kitchen also features a reclaimed butler sink and copper taps, surrounded by sage green cupboards and wooden counter tops. A mid century table comfortably seats four and makes a lovely spot for breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
There are two bedrooms, one with a king-size and one with a double bed, both new with deliciously comfy mattresses. Two additional guests can make use of the sofa bed in the living room, also very cosy and with the benefit of falling to sleep with the sound of crackling logs in the fireplace. With wooden floors throughout, pretty rugs and mix and match high quality linens you'll feel spoiled. The bathroom boasts a luxuriously tiled shower and high quality towels all snug on the heated towel rails.
Take a morning coffee on the balcony surrounded by plants and the sound of seagulls before heading out to discover all that Brighton has to offer.
One of the best pubs, The Pond, is at the end of the road and serves incredible food (Bao), they also run a rather fabulous coffee shop behind called Botany. Grab a flat white and wander around the narrow cobbled Laines filled with every imaginable independent shop selling everything from chocolate to vintage clothing. There are a couple of fantastic family run tapas bars and you won't be able to walk more than a couple of feet before you stumble upon another great little pub or eatery. Outside of the Laines you're a five minute walk from the sea front of Brighton and Hove. The beach is heaving in the summer, moody and cobweb clearing in the winter. It also has a couple of good pubs where you can watch the sun set as the birds do their aerial ballet around the ruins of the old pier which sits like a grand old dame in the waters and is often the subject of visitors' photos.
Cosy old pubs with big fires, cocktail bars with drag queens, live music, Victorian pier entertainment, sea air or high-end dining, Brighton has something for everyone and with a beautiful cottage hidden at its centre, you'll be perfectly placed to discover it all.
