Nestled away in a sprawling private landscape of native greenery and blooms, Dalgover House is a truly spectacular detached house with a long and storied history, now available to rent for groups of up to six people looking to spend in some of the most picturesque scenery in Cornwall. Updated inside and out to bring the luxuries of the 21st century into this architecturally remarkable property, Dalgover House is inspirational and restorative to be inside. Whether your idea of the dream holiday involves beaches, outdoor living, art galleries or serious comfort, you're bound to enjoy your time staying here.
Dating back to the 1870s, Dalgover House was tied up in the region's mining history, but was recently refurbished with a serious eye for detail. The property benefits from spacious, high ceilings, and three double bedrooms, with more than enough space for everybody even when the rain keeps you cooped up indoors. In the colder months light one of the two wood burning stoves and snuggle up with a book or a board game, and in the summer months spend all day on the beach or exploring your own private three acre gardens, packed with curious native flora.
Built around the kitchen and dining room, Dalgover House is ideal for gathering together in the morning for coffee and brunch to make plans, heading out on the day's excursions and then re-convening in the afternoon for a glass of local cider and a good catch-up. Either head out to one of the fantastic nationally acclaimed restaurants or gastropubs in the area or pick up fresh local seafood from the fishmongers and fire up the outdoor BBQ.
While Dalgover House is the sort of expansive, comfortable and beautiful holiday property which guests are often loathe to leave, keen swimmers, foodies, hikers and art lovers will be delighted to learn that some of the loveliest beaches, galleries and eateries in Cornwall are just 10 minutes' drive away.
The stunning beaches of Porthtowan and Portreath are well worth the 10 minute drive, and within half an hour you can reach St Ives with its sweeping white sand beach, the Barbara Hepworth House, the Tate gallery and the Porthminster Beach Cafe, plus dozens of charming shops on quiet cobbled lanes.
Porthleven is a similar drive away and makes a wonderful day trip with its pubs and fish and chip shop, while Penzance and Marazion are in easy reach, too. That said, many guests choose to stay closer to home, spending all day at the beach before sauntering home to their elegant farmhouse for a slap up meal with close friends or family.
