  The Detail...

When things start moving too quickly and the noise of everyday life gets too loud, press the eject button and take yourself away to the beautiful South Devon coast for days filled with long walks along sandy beaches and evenings gazing at the stars from the luxury of a hot tub. Crofters Cottage is a lovely traditional property overlooking the sea and surrounded by nothing but beautiful countryside.

Full of rustic charm, the cottage's stone work is offset by the duck-egg blue doors and windows. Large double doors open into the downstairs living/dining area allowing light to flood in to the cosy, yet comfortable and inviting room.

Flag stone floors and wooden beams enhance the character, and the large sofa and wood burner make for snug nights cuddled up, sipping wine and watching the flames flicker in the fire.

The living area and kitchen is all open plan. A large farmhouse table offers plenty of space for leisurely meals and the well-equipped farmhouse style kitchen is ideal for preparing romantic suppers.

An ornate spiral staircase takes guests upstairs to the large bedroom up in the roof of the cottage. Solid wooden floorboards are underfoot and double doors allow for more light to flood in on those beautiful Devonshire mornings. The bedroom sleeps four with three beds - a superking (6) and two singles.

A classic roll-top bath sits at one end of the bedroom and a toilet and basin are discreetly located in a private, wooden closet. The cottage is simple, rustic and lovely. There is no TV but there is free Wi-Fi and heating comes from the storage heaters, wood burner and portable electric radiators.

Outside, the property boasts a private garden and patio area - ideal for al fresco dining on long, warm summer evenings, followed by lengthy soaks in the wood-fired fresh water hot tub, perched high above the sea overlooking the wonderful coastline and staring at the pollution free night sky.

The surrounding area is the perfect spot for lovers of the countryside. Some of England's prettiest villages, Newton Ferrers, Noss Mayo, Salcombe and Dartmouth, are just a short drive away. And discovering the area on foot makes a delightful option, as the area has an abundance of wonderful walks, from coastal paths to the edge of the Dartmoor National Park.

Once you've walked up an appetite, visit some of the great pubs and restaurants in the area - The Ship Inn at Noss Mayo is a real favourite (welcomes children and dogs) or venture into Plymouth and try the Tanner brother's Barbican Kitchen housed in the famous Plymouth Gin Distillery.
