You should know
- COVID-19 UPDATE: The owners have opened up their glamping tents gradually in accordance with the government guidelines, ensuring that the safety of guests and staff are taken very seriously at all times.
- Each living space is situated more than 10 metres apart in their very own woodland clearing. All communalist spaces, including the sauna are now closed to ensure guests are provided with an entirely contactless facility. The owners no longer supply complimentary cereal but continue to provide tea and ground coffee in sachets. And courses will not be running for the foreseeable future.
- Tents have their own exclusive, private facilities (ensuite proper flushing loo, private tree shower, wood burning stove, bbq, hammock etc as before) and they also have their own pizza oven, fridge with ice box, sink, gas ring and kettle, parasol, crockery, cutlery, pans, utensils, tea towels, and oven gloves (professionally high temperature washed in-between guests along with linen and towels). The properties also have fast and strong 4G internet signal for Zooming and “home” working.
- You also have access to hand sanitiser in each space and entry exit points. Guests can also make use of self check-in and out, which is something the owners have been running for the past 10 years.

- The campsite is a wonderful place for a peaceful break and the whole site can be hired for up to 12 sharing 6 double bedded spaces including the treehouse.
- Logs, kindling and firelighters, are supplied before you arrive though if further supplies are needed, they will have to be purchased on site.
- For the safety of all guests, log burners should not be used for cooking and no unguarded candles should be lit.

Nestled in this pretty patch of Dorset woodland, Mallinson’s Woodland Retreat offers a variety of accommodation options, all of which allow you to get back to nature in style. These exclusive, luxurious glamping tents and yurts, offer more than most outdoor breaks. Here electricity, toilets and running water are the norm, along with an elevated position above the thriving woodland floor. And with each quaint dwelling placed perfectly within its own private space it is ideal for a secluded and relaxing couple's escape in a charming adult only campsite.
First up is the Bell Tent, which has hammocks and a private BBQ spot outside, and a comfy king sized bed inside. You also have a log burner, and authentic reindeer skins, giving the tent warmth and a truly rustic, rural feel. Electric lights and sockets are sure to add a modern-feel while a bespoke, hard-wearing flysheet keeps it dry across all of the seasons. Heated towel rails and sumptuous furnishings finish the glamorous design and give guests an opportunity to enjoy a real camping treat.
Just a short walk away from the tent is the bathroom area which includes modern flushing toilets, mains drinking water and a woven willow woodland shower. With plenty of hot water and a flag to fly when in use, the shower is a true camping luxury which has a quirky, character-feel. Additional shared facilities are also on offer including the fully-equipped ‘Out of Africa’ kitchen, the relaxing woodland sauna and the much-loved wood-fired pizza oven.
Next in line is Hoppus the Tipi. This 24-foot tipi is ideally located in a peaceful clearing in the woods, and boasts a boardwalk and deck, as well as a fully functional toilet and ‘tree’ shower. The shower also has hot water for that added slice of luxury. Inside, this tipi has an exquisite four-poster king size bed with an oak headboard as well as a beautiful selection of antique furniture, including a dressing table, sofa and chairs, as well as a vintage storage trunk. The rustic decor, embraces nature, and the log burner ensures you stay nice and toasty all year round. Hoppus does not compromise on comfort and convenience, supplying a down duvet and pillows as well as lighting and electricity throughout and even a dual control electric blanket.
And last but not least are the two luxurious yurts on offer. Built by the innovative and original Mallinson’s Woodland Retreat team, the two-person yurts showcase traditional crafting techniques and are designed to be at one with their natural setting. Elevated just above the lush woodland floor, they are hidden within the mature forest trees and offer guests a privileged view of wildlife at its absolute best.
Electric lights, plug sockets and heated towel rails can all be found inside the yurts, along with comfortable king size beds, toasty log burners and authentic reindeer skins. Outside, on each of the private decking areas, guests will find an array of pots and pans to accompany their BBQ cooking facilities, while just a few steps away are the sheltered bathroom spots. A hot tree shower, a flushing toilet and a sink with drinkable mains water are accommodated in each of the yurt’s private woodland cubicles, making the Poppet and Coracle camps into a true glamping escape.
If you can bear to drag yourself away from your secluded woodland spot then the Mallinson’s Woodland Retreat site also has an array of additional facilities which guests can share with their fellow onsite glampers. There is a relaxing sauna to while your troubles away, a wood-fired pizza oven for those tasty treats and the previously mentioned ‘Out of Africa’ kitchen for those full-on evening meals.
