Designed and created on the farm where it now resides, Counting Sheep Shepherds Hut offers the perfect mix of rustic charm with a touch of luxury. The peaceful, rural location will really make you feel like you’ve got away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but you’re still within walking distance of a convenience store, a tearoom and two pubs.
The cosy hut is an all-year round destination, perfect for an alfresco meal overlooking the green parkland in summer, and the ideal place to snuggle up with a warming glass of local mulled cider in the winter.
Ascending the wooden steps into the beautifully appointed hut, you’ll find a comfy double bed, adorned with soft blankets and plump pillows, tucked away at one end. There's also a kitchen area, complete with microwave, oven and mini fridge, and a wooden table for two, ideal for indoor eating.
An adjacent hut, adjoined by your own personal decked area, houses a private bathroom. As well as a walk-in shower, WC and hand basin, this spacious room is stocked with spa quality, eco-friendly toiletries to add a touch of luxury to your stay.
Outside the hut you’ll find a raised veranda, perfectly positioned to make the most of the far reaching views of lush, open parkland. Here you can enjoy a glass of wine, settle down with a good book or watch the farm’s pet piglets and free-range chickens happily wandering. You can even pick fresh herbs from the garden if you fancy rustling up a bite to eat. And when the sun goes down, you’ll be in the perfect spot to gaze at the stars on a clear night. Simply light up the fire pit, grab a blanket from inside and enjoy the endless view.
Counting Sheep is nestled in the grounds of Old Oak Farm, in the charming village of Curry Rivel. Two excellent local pubs are within a 10 minute walk of the farm and there are numerous footpaths leading to areas of natural beauty and stunning views over the moors. Also nearby are opportunities for bird watching, pottery making and cider tasting, so there really is something for everyone.

Leave a reviewSuch a lovely place to stay for a weekend away from it all. My wife, myself and our 2 dogs found it a very peaceful and pleasant place to unwind. Quiet area but plenty of places to explore. Really well prepared and presented, adorable.
