Gorgeous cottage on the edge of a winding river in the Dartmoor National Park.
Please note that the minimum stay for this property is 3 nights
Tucked away in the Dartmoor National Park, this thoughtfully designed holiday home sleeps six guests in three bedrooms. Surrounded by picturesque moorland and with a delightful spot on the edge of the river, this cottage is perfect for those looking to retreat and reconnect with nature.
The interiors of the cottage are calming and cosy thanks to the warm neutral tones and earthy greens used throughout. There is also an abundance of rustic charm thanks to the original stones walls and wooden beamed ceilings. Despite this, the decor is still modern and functional thanks to contemporary amenities and sleek, Scandinavian design.
The living room is on the second floor, and is accessed via the kitchen downstairs. This grand room has a vaulted ceiling and huge windows that flood the space with natural light, whilst offering up lovely views of the river. You can enjoy a morning coffee here whilst gazing at the view, or relax with a good book in front of the wood burner when the weather's chilly outside.
Back downstairs is the kitchen and dining space, which is filled with all of the essentials you'll need to prepare delicious breakfasts and dinners. The space has a large kitchen island and access to the surrounding garden, as well as a dining table that comfortably sleeps six.
Just down from the kitchen, via a private staircase, sits the master bedroom. This is a true sanctuary overlooking the river and features a super king bed can be made into twins on request. The master bedroom also has an adjoining sun room for added luxury as well as access to the garden.
The other bedrooms are both king-sized and sit on the first floor up their own small set of steps. One of these bedrooms comes with its own family-size en-suite for added privacy, whilst the other has access to a separate next door bathroom.
Stepping outside, you'll be delighted with the cottage's wrap-around patio garden. This space has a BBQ, outdoor dining furniture and comfy outdoor sofas and loungers. This is ideal for al fresco dining, lounging in the sun and star gazing at night. To top it off, you also have direct access, down some paved stone steps, to the river, which is an idyllic spot for an afternoon picnic.
Cottage on the River is just outside the pretty Devon village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor. This village was recently named by The Times as one of the most up and coming places to live in the UK and is located in the beautiful Dartmoor National Park. This means you have miles of moorland to explore on foot, by bike or on horseback. Venture out and wander the deep river valleys and wild rugged hills before finding a charming, cosy pub to enjoy a delicious meal and a nice drink. You're also just under an hour's drive from the sublime beaches of South Devon.
