The Details...

In the picturesque and unspoiled town of Low Row in Yorkshire, Cottage in the Dales is a one bedroom self-catering holiday home finished internally to a very high standard with outdoor space overlooking Swaledale. Having been extensively renovated this year, Cottage in the Dales combines old world charm and the celebrated Yorkshire architectural aesthetic with a comprehensive array of twenty-first century luxuries. The owners have created the perfect getaway for couples looking to spend time in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The ground-level main living space combines a brand new, high-end kitchen with an open plan living room. This space benefits from a wood-burning stove and oven feature, creating an instant sense of hygge. Slow cook a stew with local lamb in the stove itself or simply curl up in front of it with a glass of wine and a book after a long day of hiking. As well as a spacious fridge-freezer, oven, hob and microwave, there are a range of preparation surfaces and a Nespresso coffee machine provided. The dishwasher will mean less time doing chores and more time exploring the dales or taking in the views.

Also on this floor is a utility room with washing machine and dryer, meaning that whatever the weather youll be ready to hit the trails. A rather lovely oak staircase leads you down to the lower ground floor, where the bedroom contains a king-sized bed, made up with high thread-count bedlinen. In this space a gorgeous double-ended contemporary bath tub is the dream spot for a long soak, while the en-suite bathroom offers a rainfall shower. Off the bedroom, the patio with its barbecue and outdoor furniture awaits, boasting staggering views of the valley below.

While visitors flock to the Yorkshire Dales primarily for the fine views and interesting terrain that the plunging topography provides, the smaller towns and villages of the area are also pretty, unspoilt, and charming. The village of Reeth is just four miles away, and is a perfect example of the settlements which make Yorkshire such a unique and appealing holiday destination. Between the craft rooms, excellent local market, and coffee shops and bars, there is a wide variety of activities and leisurely pursuits, and those with an interest in architecture, culture, and history will not be disappointed.

Closer to home, walk five minutes to The Punch Bowl, a must-visit gastropub guaranteed to provide a warm welcome, fine rustic food, and a pint of local ale. Further afield, Leyburns weekly market and art galleries are great ways to spend a rainy afternoon, not to mention the pubs and restaurants which draw crowds from all over Yorkshire.
