The detail

The village of Duleek sits in the mythical Boyne Valley in Ireland's County Meath. It is in this quiet little village that you will find Connell's Barn. This 19th century barn conversion has been lovingly restored to its former glory, imbued with an identity that is at once traditional and contemporary. Having worked in the industry for over 20-years, the owner's love of furniture truly shines through. Their passion and eye for detail is evidenced in the beautiful furnishings and charming personality of the barn, adding a stylish yet homely air to the property. The colourful décor combines with whitewashed stone walls to create and bright and airy space. And besides its abundant personality, you will be ideally positioned to explore all that Ireland's Ancient East region has to offer. Sleeping a maximum of five guests, this little Irish gem is one that all the family will love.

The downstairs open-planned living area is spacious and well proportioned, providing the ideal spot to spend your leisure time. The sitting area features a sofa bed (suitable for one adult or two children) and armchair, both of which are arranged around the flat screen TV - perfect for movie nights with your loved ones. The kitchen is modern and well equipped with numerous cooking sundries to make your food shop that little bit lighter. At the circular dining table, you will also find a little welcome hamper containing some Irish treats for you and your fellow guests to enjoy.

The mezzanine bedroom sits under a vaulted ceiling and is as beautifully decorated as the ground floor. It houses a comfy double bed and two single foldaway beds, while the windows offer views over the village green. The mezzanine also includes an ensuite with a WC, basin and walk-in shower. Upon stepping outside Connell's Barn, you will come to the patio. Here, you can enjoy your morning coffee as you survey the goings on in the village. Things don’t get more relaxing that this.

The region has something for everyone to enjoy, from the adults down to the “wee ones”. Boyne Valley has plenty of walking trails while Ireland's Ancient East region is replete with castles, megalithic tombs and other places of interest. You will also be close to some of the east coast's prettiest beaches. For the kids, Tayto Park, Newgrange Farm and Funtasia are all nearby. Should you wish to venture a little further, Ireland's capital, Dublin, is less than an hour's drive away. By far the country's largest city, Dublin has lots to see and do including Phoenix Park, Guinness Store House, Trinity College and The Natural History Museum. And that's without even mentioning the wonderful shopping, culture and nightlife!
