The Details...

While away your days in complete and utter serenity at this luxury Cornish cottage in picture-perfect Tresowes hamlet. Set in lush, flower gardens, along a one-track country lane, Chygwins Barn is an oh-so memorable hideout for a rural-coastal stay. Explore peaceful, farmland trails or enchanting, local woodlands, or take a five-minute drive to the wild Praa shoreline. There’s natural, windswept beaches and idyllic, pastoral greens, along with quaint harbours, bustling towns and an award-winning food scene.

Past its secluded gardens and its stone-timber façade, Chygwins Barn is a masterfully converted barn that really raises the bar. Its timeless craftsmanship is complimented by a country-coastal style and blends natural textures and seaside hints with a chic, modern design. Expect minimalist white walls offset by subtle ocean shades, joined by timber floorboards, sleek spotlights and a glass panelled staircase. Look out for the designer artwork and the sea-inspired prints, or the wine cooler, coffee maker and Cornish pasty warmer.

The vaulted, open-plan living areas are split across two floors and include a contemporary kitchen and a cosy mezzanine lounge. Get creative with the range cooker and rustle up a sumptuous family feast, or sneak up to the comfy sink-in sofas for those quiet nights in. There’s a Smart TV, sound-bar and X-Box with games, along with a handcrafted table where you can stay up late. There’s even a toasty wood burner for that added country romance and underfloor heating for an extra level of indulgence.

Off the open-plan living area, you’ll find two ground floor double bedrooms, dressed with dreamy Reylon mattresses and crisp White Company linen. Both are finished with soothing natural colours and have either a king-size bed or plush double mattress. Flat-screen TV’s are perfect for movie nights in, while black-out blinds allow for long morning lie-ins. A stylish en-suite bathroom is shared between the two and is complete with a sophisticated slipper bath and walk-in shower cubicle.

In the mornings, you can wake to the splendour of the fresh country air, throwing open the patio doors and sitting out on your tranquil garden terrace. Listen to the sweet sound of birdsong with your freshly-brewed coffee, or pack up the car and head towards the seafront. Try surfing on Praa Sands Beach or walking along its wispy heather shores, visiting Penzance, Marazion or Porthleven further east. Stop off for delicious seafood at one of Rick Stein’s famous restaurants, or sit out at uber-chilled beach bars and watch the magnificent, coastal sunset.
