This beautiful handmade shepherd’s hut is located in a peaceful countryside setting just outside the West Sussex village of Southwater. The hut was made by skilled craftsmen in Worcestershire who combine the traditional structure of a shepherd’s hut with a whole array of modern materials and features. Explore the surrounding countryside during the day, before returning to your cosy hideaway to enjoy the sunset on your private patio next to the fire pit. This makes for a wonderful rural and romantic escape, perfect for those looking to unplug and relax.
Step inside and you’ll find that the space feels bright and spacious. This clever shepherd’s hut has plenty of tricks up its sleeves to help you make the most of the available room. There is a luxurious double bed with feather bedding and Egyptian cotton linen. This can be folded away during the day to create extra living space. This leaves bench seats and a table that can be folded down between them to create a cosy dinette.
The kitchen is well equipped with a hob and a full-size electric fan oven. There’s a fridge with a freezer compartment and a picnic bag in case you fancy bringing lunch along on a day out. On dry days, you have the option of cooking over open flames outside as the fire pit has a grill. There’s also a modern bathroom with an electric shower, a regular flushing toilet and a beautiful Moroccan ceramic basin.
Outside, you’ll find a patio area with outdoor furniture and a fire pit barbecue. When the sun is shining, bring your meals outside and enjoy the view of the rolling Sussex countryside as you eat. In the evening, get a fire going and wrap up warm in some of the blankets stored inside and do a spot of stargazing, perhaps toasting a few marshmallows. And thanks to its location close to the South Downs and Southwater Country Park, this is an ideal base for any avid walkers or cyclists.
This is a great location for those who want to explore the outdoors. The Knepp Estate re-wilding project is just a few miles down the road and there are cycling routes and footpaths which you can access without having to get in the car. The South Downs National Park is also nearby with plenty more walking opportunities. Just a little further south and the coast is close enough that you could spend a day at the beach if you fancied a change of scene.
