Callander House in The Trossachs is the private residence of globally-acclaimed artist, Stuart McAlpine Miller and his wife Nikki. Offering a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse into the modern art scene, it is a classic Scottish castle transformed into a creative masterpiece. Admire the cutting-edge fusion of history and modernity, as you explore the castle’s original features and McAlpine Miller’s signature artwork. Expect striking designs and a kaleidoscope of vibrancy, set against the timeless backdrop of the majestic Scottish Highlands.
The exquisite stone castle dates back to the early 19th century and is a grand turreted fort at the heart of a 12 acre country estate. Nestled between the dramatic Ben Ledi peaks and the peaceful River Teith, it has a beautifully rural location at the gateway to the Highlands.
Inside, the castle has been styled with an exceptional attention to detail and boasts McAlpine Miller’s ever-changing designs and explosive exhibitions. Gather in the stylish morning room with its digital grand baby piano or the massive reception room with its crackling fire. There’s the basement art gallery with its limited edition prints, along with the glamourous banqueting room and cinema in the turret. “The Savoy Series” of artworks steals centre stage, while the 10ft honesty bar is destined to be a favourite. Enjoy a session in the gym or a nightcap in the library, before retiring to the sleeping quarters for the ultimate luxury.
Dressed with sumptuous beds and indulgent linen, the 13 bespoke bedrooms can accommodate groups of up to 26 people. Choose from the stunning four poster rooms or the designer emperor suite or the massive family rooms with their sink-in, king-size beds. Contemporary en-suites and state-of-the-art bathrooms are stylishly finished and feature a selection of roll top baths, premium showers and Jacuzzi’s suites.
Once you’re fully rested and ready to explore, a private concierge can arrange everything you need and more. Try fishing in the grounds or clay pigeon shooting, or archery lessons, mountain biking and picnicking with the ranger. Helicopter charters can be arranged as an exclusive extra, followed by spa treatments, fitness instructors and private in-house catering. The famous sights of Glasgow and Edinburgh can also be found nearby, along with Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
