The cottage, once one of the original brewery cottages behind the Shipwrights Arms, has been redeveloped and furnished to create a spacious, modern holiday home which comfortably accommodates up to 11 guests. High ceilings and skylights flood the open plan living areas with light make the cottage a relaxing place to be. There are also fantastic views across the estuary and three terraces outside where you can sit back with a glass in hand and enjoy the scenery.
Brewery Cottage is accessed via its own cobbled courtyard just off Fore Street, the very heart of Salcombe. On the ground floor, you’ll find the entrance hallway and a cloakroom with enough room for everyone’s coats and boots after a day exploring. There’s also the first of the double bedrooms on this floor. Head upstairs and you’ll find a large bedroom which is a big hit with the kids. This has three single beds with the option of adding a further two truckle beds if you need them. This room also features a balcony and you’ll find a family bathroom just across the landing. On the second floor, there’s a large kingsize bedroom and another family bathroom. There’s also a laundry area, handy for those muddy clothes after a good walk in the local area.
Upstairs once more and you’ll find the fabulous living areas, perfect for entertaining. High vaulted ceilings give a wonderful feeling of space and the area is bathed in natural light thanks to skylights. A gorgeous oak dining table comfortably seats 10 and a useful sideboard with a drinks fridge has been thoughtfully fitted opposite. The living area is a cosy and relaxing space and has a juliet balcony with stunning views over the rooftops of Salcombe and out to the estuary. The kitchen is equipped with top-of-the-range facilities, including a six-burner gas hob, dishwasher, Miele electric oven, five fridges and two freezers. You’ll have everything you need to cater for a full house at your fingertips.
Head out through the French doors onto the first of the three terraces from the kitchen. Each of these is equipped with outdoor furniture and there’s plenty of space for everyone to relax in the sunshine. The lower terrace has a decked area with seating and a large gas BBQ within convenient reach of the kitchen. The middle terrace has a dining area with enough seating for everyone. Move up to the final terrace and there’s an outdoor shower and some comfy, sofa-style seating where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views over the estuary. This is also where the final bedroom is located in a garden studio with a double bed and an en suite bathroom.
Salcombe itself is a picturesque seaside town with a pretty harbour and beautiful sandy beaches nearby. The town is a vibrant location, with lots of independent shops to explore and plenty of restaurants serving the highest quality seafood. Whether you prefer to spend your time being pampered at the spa or want to get out on the water and try your hand at sailing, there’s something for you.
