This Yorkshire farmhouse, on the edge of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, sits amidst 100 acres of private estate. North of Otley and just a few miles west of Harrogate, Dales House stuns inside and out, with the views over the Washburn Valley made even more impressive from its elevated position.
The large garden and luxurious hot tub will no doubt catch your eye as you arrive at Dales House, and a conservatory sits at the front of the house enjoying views of the Dales. Inside, a welcome hamper awaits you with sweet treats from iconic Yorkshire tea rooms, Bettys.
A large sitting room is subtly decorated and offers lots of space to lounge around, with a curved Smart TV positioned above the open fireplace (there’s a plentiful supply of logs too). You have a separate formal dining room to hold those special occasion dinners, as well as a less formal dining space in the kitchen, set beside a warming wood-burner.
Speaking of dining, you will find all you need in the huge kitchen, including two ovens, two fridges – one a big American-style double – and a dishwasher. Lots of storage space and an island add to its sleek show-home style, with a separate utility room keeping laundry and the like backstage.
A games room with pool table and bar gives you yet another place to hang out, and there’s entertainment all over the house with sounds from the Sonos music system and Wi-Fi available in every room. You can even hire a treehouse in the grounds if you’re planning a special event – catered dinner parties can be arranged – or get a barbecue started in the stunning gardens.
Six superb bedrooms give Dales House the capacity to sleep up to 12 guests, each one with its own TV and bathroom. The fine-looking master bedroom features a king-size sleigh bed, roll-top bath and monsoon shower, all accessed via the house’s grand staircase. One of the remaining bedrooms is situated on the ground floor, with use of a dressing room and wet room on the same level, while another of the upstairs rooms has its own separate lounge.
Add an irresistible patio with furniture and, of course, that hot tub just outside the French doors, and Dales House has a lot to offer its guests. It doesn’t end there, as all kinds of extras can be arranged too, from private chefs to bike hire.
The local area provides more great reasons to stay a while, with excellent walks through the moors and woodlands a fine way to get back to nature. Otley and Pateley Bridge are charming market towns with shops, cafés and restaurants to explore, while the spa town of Harrogate is a must-see – this cosmopolitan destination is within 20 minutes’ drive.
