This fabulous, one-of-a-kind accommodation is packed full of vintage charm. The 1950s caravan has been lovingly restored to its former glory, with an eye-catching kitsch interior and a little added luxury. Nestled within the rolling hills of the spectacular Devon countryside, it’s the perfect place to enjoy an unforgettable getaway for two.
Your first glimpse of Bluebird Penthouse is sure to make you smile. From the vintage Land Rover hot tub parked out front to the covered verandah with a view, the whole scene is reminiscent of a 1950s American trailer park, but with a touch of class.
Inside this quirky, fully insulated caravan, you’ll find a wonderfully welcoming abode with a delightfully retro chequered floor. The many windows flood the space with light and ensure that you don’t miss out on the breathtaking views. At the centre is a fully functioning 1950s-style kitchenette with two hobs, an oven and a grill. The space is cleverly maximised with thoughtful features such as a fold-down table and a wine cellar hidden in the floor.
The sleeping area, with a comfortable double bed with luxury linen and retro print cushions, is at one end of the caravan. From here you can enjoy the fabulous view through the window as you sip your morning coffee. At the other end, you’ll find the private bathroom with WC, sink and a shower over the bath.
The outside of this characterful accommodation is just as memorable as the inside. The covered verandah boasts a seating area, gas BBQ and a gas pizza oven, making it the ideal spot to sit and savour the stunning vistas whatever the weather. Just beyond the verandah you’ll find another seating area with a chimenea to keep you cosy on a chilly evening and the pièce de résistance of the garden, the fabulous Land Rover hot tub. Powered by an eco-friendly biomass boiler, this quirky luxury is a hot tub like no other.
The serene countryside surrounding Bluebird Penthouse is ripe for exploring, with the Taw Valley and River Taw nearby. The closest village, High Bickington, which has two pubs and a convenience store, is just 1.5 miles away and you can be wandering around the beautiful Exmoor National Park within an hour.
