  The Detail...

Right on the beautiful Somerset Levels, a popular retreat for couples looking to spend some time in the gorgeous westcountry landscape, Goose Feather Barn is a recently renovated former agricultural building, converted into a super-romantic country cottage, available to rent on a self-catered basis. Tucked away on a working farm, and designed, built and stocked judiciously with the holidaying couple in mind, Goose Feather Barn offers everything you need for a mini-break away from the stresses and congestion of everyday urban life.

The cottage itself benefits from an open plan design, all laid out across the one level. The bedroom with its sumptuous emperor-sized bed is separate, as is the decadent bathroom, with its walk-in shower and freestanding slipper bath, the perfect place to take a long hot soak after a day of exploring the local area. The kitchen space benefits from a country-house style, and has been well appointed with everything that home cooks will need to prepare the ultimate romantic dinner or breakfast. Everything about Goose Feather Barns aesthetic is subtle, rural and classic, from the tiled floors to the high ceilings, the whitewashed walls to the artfully exposed timber joists.

While away the days in your own little slice of paradise, curled up in front of the wood-burning stove in its Inglenook fireplace with a book and a glass of wine. You can also tuck into a delicious home cooked meal at the kitchen table for two, or take advantage of the grill in summer months, and spent the long Somerset evenings outdoors with a beer, watching the swallows dip and dive as the sun sets. The walled patio is a particularly lovely patch, set up with your very own barbecue, sun loungers and outdoor dining set.

Goose Feather Barn is a dream getaway for couples whose idea of a perfect day is rising late, taking a long stroll through the forests, hills and glades, before returning to their cosy cottage for a lengthy evening in front of the fire. That said, for those looking for a little more activity during their time away, Goose Feather Barn is close to a number of diverse entertainment options and days out.

A trip to the famous Snowdrop Valley in Exmoor is really quite overwhelming in snowdrop season, while in the earlier months the starling murmurations above the Avalon Marshes have to be seen to be believed. Everything from world class jazz nights in Wells, to the newly established Bath Festival are well within reach, plus festivals celebrating everything from Real Ale and gin to balloons and folk music are in close proximity. Alternatively, sit back in front of the fire and order an Indian takeaway from nearby Table 8.

S Davis says...
"What a place! We absolutely loved our stay. The barn is well equipped, provides plenty of space, boasts character and most importantly was super super clean! The place was spotless! And in the current situation of the dreaded COVID-19 I have to say, we were blown away by how clean the place was.

What a beautiful place Wedmore is too. We loved the village and definitely hope to visit again soon.

Thanks for the cookies left for us in the barn too! (not that I got a look-in, my boyfriend made sure of that) They were so yummy he talked about them for days afterwards!"
