  The Detail...

Situated on a pretty green hillside next to the stunning Kilmarten Glen and a just a pebble's throw from Crinan Ferry beach is Winterton Bed and Breakfast.
This delightful B&B hosts a maximum of four guests and offers its visitors peace and tranquility. The friendly owners are happy to share their knowledge of the area but are respectful of guests' privacy and space.

Mornings at Winterton begin with the smell of breakfast cooking and freshly made pots of tea and coffee. Guests start the day taking in the spectacular views while getting stuck into a traditional Scottish breakfast. Enjoy the mostly organic or free range feast of porridge, fresh fruit and yoghurt, cereal, toast with homemade jams and marmalades and a full cooked breakfast. Guests will need a full belly to sustain them for a day exploring the many miles of walking paths accessible directly from the front door.

After discovering the majesty of this beautiful and historic area, visitors can stroll directly back to front door of this handsome stone and timber home. After kicking off the walking boots, they will love a rejuvenating soak in one of the rolltop, freestanding baths featured in both en-suite bathrooms before wrapping up in one of the huge, fluffy towels provided. The beautifully styled bathrooms also boast luxurious walk-in showers, stripped-wooden floor boards and a crisp off-white colour palette, they also offer exceptional views and absolute privacy.

Dinner is prepared on request by the owners who love to create three-course meals inspired by the best of global cuisine, from traditional British food to Thai, Indian and Italian. They are happy to cater for vegans and vegetarians and love to use fresh local produce, including shellfish and fish and organic poultry and game.
After dinner, relax in the guest lounge and warm your toes by the crackling wood burner or take in the stunning sunsets from the green oak sun room. When it's time for bed, both bedrooms are cosy sanctuaries. Beautiful thick curtains and heating keep the brisk Scottish night outside and, combined with the warm hues and soft furnishings, create a snug retreat to enjoy a deep, fulfilling sleep.

Days might be spent on the walking trails or down on the beach, which is just five minutes away. Historical attractions include the ancient burial cairns at Kilmartin Glen - the lovely Kilmartin Museum is fascinating and its cafe does lovely food. Of course a visit to Scotland would be incomplete without trying some of the famous whiskey. Guests can take a foot ferry to Jura and visit the island's well-known distilleries.
