  The Detail...

Located in a quiet and peaceful corner of this beautiful part of North West England, Kirkstile Inn is a 17th Century Lake District guest house, that has been newly refurbished to introduce modern luxury, without losing any of its traditional charm.

There are 10 different rooms to choose from, with enough variation to cater for many types of guest. Designed in a cottage style, most have exposed wooden beams and low windows for a cosy feel.

There are four double bedrooms on the first floor of Kirkstile Inn - one of which is slightly smaller than its counterparts, with a price that reflects that. There is also a twin room on this level and the four poster room, which as the name suggests has a stunning four-poster bed. Each room has an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, tea and coffee making facilities, and offer amazing views of Mellbreak Fell.

Away from the main building is the external premier suite. This has its own private entrance, a double bedroom, separate living room with TV, en-suite with walk-in shower, and an exclusive terrace overlooking Mellbreak Fell. Finally, a family room is located in an annex and sleeps two adults and two children. There is a double bedroom and separate living room with sofa bed and room for a cot. The bathroom has a bath and a shower.

A hearty breakfast is included in the price of the stay and is served in the elegant dining room. Those staying can also enjoy traditional and excellent pub classics made with local produce from the seasonal menu. Alternatively guests can eat in the buzz of the bar, where many of the beers available are made in the on-site Kirkstile Inn brewery. There are also guest ales, a strong collection of malts, and much more.

On warmer days most head out into the large beer garden to enjoy their drink, which overlooks the river with the peak of Mellbreak Fell beyond. Of course, the area is a walkers paradise and this is a great location for visiting the Western Lakes. Cockermouth and Keswick with its shops and lake cruises are both within easy reach.
