The Details...

Take a step back and live for the moment at this boutique farm hotel in rural Tuscany. Laced with an impassioned respect for its rich, farming history, it encourages you to embrace a simpler way of living. Taste the delicious local foods or breathe in the fresh country air, before exploring the sleepy villages and their laidback atmosphere. With no hustle and bustle to get in your way, you can sit back and relax - the Italian way.
The Follonico hotel is a secluded retreat that is a short drive away from the village of Montefollonico. Surrounded by majestic pastoral landscapes and atmospheric skies, it has a heavenly location and a fairy tale backdrop. Picture tall Cypress trees and rolling hillsides, along with lush olive groves and sun-drenched vineyards. With cattle grazing amongst the patchwork fields, it is a picturesque scene that has a timeless-feel.

The old stone farmhouse dates back hundreds of years and has been expertly renovated using quality craftsmanship. Its stylish interiors have been finished with a chic, rustic simplicity that is genuine, unfussy and truly exquisite. Exposed stone features are joined by beamed ceilings and faded floors, while old limestone paint adds texture to the walls. Breakfasts are served in the family dining room and include fresh seasonal produce from the local farmers.

Accommodation consists of six designer rooms, including four spacious suites and two double bedrooms. Each suite showcases its own unique story, with a mixture of open fireplaces, exclusive balconies and characterful, vintage items. Ponder upon the retro typewriter or the solitary wedding dress, before perusing the black and white photos or the quaint porcelain sets. Antique gilt mirrors lean casually against the walls and are joined by the occasional leather suitcase and interesting books. Contemporary home comforts are also found in abundance and include thick mattresses, sumptuous sofas and deluxe en-suite bathrooms.

The two cosy double bedrooms are found just next door, in an old outbuilding that is fully restored. Smaller than the suites but still perfectly formed, they too combine a rural charm with modern, home luxuries. A private terrace is shared between the two and has its own open air hot tub looking out over the views.

This part of Tuscany has its own magical aura and is characterised by its tiny, local villages and strong, farming culture. Hidden away from the bustling cities and their endless tourist trail, it is an authentic place with a real halcyon glaze. Visit the fabulous restaurants or the ancient fortifications before stopping at the family-owned vineyards sprinkled along the pathways. The charming village of Montefollonico can also be found close-by, along with Montepulciano, San’Antimo and the Renaissance town of Pienza.
