The Details...

Retreat to the faraway tip of North West Donegal and experience what life is like on this enchanting isle. With its dramatic, rural scenes and spellbinding soul, it is a captivating hideout and your home away from home. Explore its wild, rugged headland and its ever-changing skies, or the rolling heathlands that have been untouched by time. There are striking mountain peaks and mesmerising beaches, dusted with the magical spirit of Ireland’s ancient myths and legends.

Breac House is woven within these majestic natural landscapes and is a boutique bed & breakfast on the Horn Head foreland. Designed by award-winning architects and built by traditional craftsman, it blends minimalist, modern luxuries with local customs. Expect timeless, handcrafted oak and handwoven tweed throws, along with clean lines, neutral colours and natural stone.

Behind its crisp, contemporary exterior lies an understated home that has three unique B&B rooms where you can rejuvenate your soul. There are sumptuous king-size beds topped with thick, fluffy duvets and deluxe en-suite bathrooms with organic seaweed toiletries. Gaze at the beguiling, natural vistas through your floor-to-ceiling windows or stargaze at night on your stunning, private balcony. The towering Muckish and Errigal mountains frame the sparkling Atlantic Ocean and give the indulgent rooms a view that’s full of emotion.

In the mornings, breakfast in bed is delivered to your own private, in-room hatch and includes an array of fresh, Irish produce and freshly, brewed coffee. Serve it on the balcony or curl back up beneath the duvet, watching the pink-hued skies wake up the beautiful, local wildlife. Once you’re fully rested and ready to face the world, you can grab your homemade picnic and head out to explore.

There are adventures aplenty to be had amongst the headland, whether it’s out on the hillsides or on the unspoilt beaches. Walk along the windswept dunes or through the mysterious forests, or atop crumbling cliffs looking out towards the ocean. Cycle through idyllic nature reserves or hike up iconic mountain slopes, stopping off at the freshwater lakes and monolithic stones.

Stroll to the seaside village of Dunfanaghy for a more relaxed day or head back to Breac House and listen to the lulling of the waves. There are shared living areas where you can spend lazy days, unwinding with a book or playing board games till late. Try the relaxing seaweed bath for a rejuvenating cleanse or head to the lounge bar to make cocktail blends. As night time falls, you’ve got an excuse to stay up late as you wait for a once in a lifetime glimpse of the spectacular Northern Lights.
