You’ll find this beautiful boutique guest house in the heart of the traditional Andalucian hilltop town of Archidona in Southern Spain. Just 45 minutes from the vibrant coastal city of Malaga, Almohalla 51 is perfectly located for making the most of this stunning region of Spain. You’ll find shady patios and a gorgeous plunge pool surrounded by landscaped terraces outside, while inside there are five tastefully decorated rooms to choose from. Enjoy the views over the town and across the sierra with a coffee by the pool in the morning or curl up with a book in front of the wood burning stove in the evening. The house is tucked away on the edge of a wooded hillside but just minutes away from the action in the bars and restaurants of the main plaza.
Almohalla 51 is also a great choice for eco-conscious holidaymakers as it makes the most of solar power to provide hot water and the building is naturally temperature controlled. During the building’s renovation, original features were preserved alongside the use of reclaimed materials and it has been furnished with local antique furniture.
There are five bedrooms which have all been individually furnished to show off the beautiful original features of the property, such as the exposed wooden beams, while including luxurious modern comforts. Each of the rooms has its own character and appeal. Room One is the largest, elegantly furnished with dark wood and with an open ensuite featuring a double-ended bath. Room Two is cosy and intimate with views over the woods which lead up to the Sanctuary of La Virgen de Gracia. The bright and airy Room Three is arranged over two floors and enjoys views over the town and out to the sierra. Room Four is set at the front of the house and features a beautiful wrought iron king-size bed. For those looking for a bit of seclusion and tranquility, Room Five overlooks one of the internal patios and features a cosy raised seating area. All of the rooms can be made up as doubles, while Room Two and Room Three are also available as twins.
Almohalla 51 is perfectly located for exploring Andalucia whether you’re tempted by the big cities, tiny traditional villages or the endless sandy beaches. Archidona is set at the crossroads of Andalucia, meaning that Malaga, Granada, Cordoba, Ronda and Seville are all within easy reach for a day trip. Visit the 9th century Alhambra Palace in Granada or the Museo Picasso in Malaga. Explore the historic city centre of Cordoba with its Mosque-Cathedral or visit one of the oldest bullrings in Spain in the hilltop town of Ronda. The region also has a rich culinary tradition, so be sure to try some of the local dishes such as Porra Archidonesa, a tomato based dish, or Papanduas de Bacalao, balls of cod dressed in sugar cane honey.
