Sitting magnificently amongst the hills of Mellieha, a popular destination in northern Malta, Villa Carob Hill impresses inside and out. Sleek design and an infinity pool with spectacular views out to the Mediterranean are part of a lengthy list of this 4-bedroom villa’s enticing attractions.

Thoughtfully conceived to seamlessly blend the interior and exterior spaces, Villa Carob Hill is accessed via a majestic staircase. You won’t be able to resist taking a peek through the huge windows as you pass, for a hint of what awaits you. The ground-floor living area incorporates an open-plan kitchen and dining area. An extensive range of appliances and kitchen equipment will make dining a pleasure, and the opportunity to eat out on the pool deck’s covered terrace is not to be passed up – especially when the valley views are as enchanting as this.

On the lower floors, a quartet of air-conditioned bedrooms enjoy the luxury of their own terrace. All bedrooms have the use of a bathroom, two of them en suite with full-size bath tubs. Set apart from the rest of the villa, this serene space ensures restful nights of sleep and a calming start to each day.

Villa Carob Hill doesn’t stop at just one pool… in addition to the outdoor infinity pool with its beautiful village backdrop and ‘top of the world’ aura, you’ll find a spacious pool inside, accompanied by a private sauna and poolside loungers. With plenty more ways to chill out, including a barbecue, pool table, TV and games console, this might just be the most relaxing place in town.

While used to visitors, Mellieha is certainly not overcrowded, and its remote position on the island’s north west coast – around 15 miles from Valletta – helps to maintain its peaceful quality. The village’s medieval centre is home to the 17th-century Church of Our Lady of Mellieha – the walls lined with votive prayers – as well as some bars and restaurants.

The hilltop village overlooks Malta’s largest sandy beach, Ghadira, and the Ghadira Nature Reserve is the island’s prime birdwatching spot. For views almost as good as the birds, climb the Red Tower, St Agatha’s, a vantage point which will let you see all the way to the neighbouring island of Gozo. For more of that island, you can take a ferry trip, while Mellieha’s other attractions include a selection of spas and an array of water-sport adventures.
