Tucked away in the rolling Northumbrian countryside in the grounds of Lemmington Hall, this charming Grade II listed cottage provides a relaxing escape, perfect for couples. Surrounded by woodland that is home to red squirrels and deer and with peacocks wandering through the grounds, it’s a peaceful spot to slow down the pace and enjoy a bit of country living. After a day strolling along the sandy beaches of the Heritage Coast or exploring Alnwick Castle, enjoy a glass of something out on the terrace or put your feet up in front of the wood burner in the living room. All before snuggling up in your luxurious king size bed.
Thimble Cottage has been restored and furnished with a traditional countryside lodge in mind. The walls have been painted deep, calming blues and touches like the elegant peacock wallpaper and the fireplace in the bedroom bring out the character of the cottage. The fully-equipped kitchen allows you to cater for yourselves and you’ll find a welcome pack with the essentials and some local treats to get you started.
Move through to the cosy living room and you’ll find a comfy sofa in front of a wood burning stove, the perfect spot to get stuck into a good book or a game of cards. The living room also has French doors leading out onto the patio with some garden furniture so you can enjoy a cup of coffee in the mornings or a glass of wine in the evening while soaking up the scenery.
The bedroom features a luxurious king size bed and a fire to keep you cosy in the chillier months. You’ll find fluffy towels and robes waiting for you in the ensuite where you’ll be able to enjoy a long soak in the bath after a walk in Northumberland’s countryside.
There’s plenty of exploring to be done in the area with castles, gardens, beaches and miles of rugged countryside to discover. The spectacular Alnwick Castle is only a few miles away and well worth a visit. It’s a popular filming location and you might recognise parts of the castle and grounds from films and series such as Harry Potter and Blackadder. While you’re there, don’t miss a visit to the fairytale Alnwick Garden. If you fancy a change of scene, head to the coast where you’ll find golden sandy beaches and fishing villages to explore. Regular boat trips depart from the village of Seahouses and take you to The Farne Islands to see all sorts of wildlife from seals to puffins. There are also plenty of scenic walking trails that take you through the countryside and the Northumberland National Park is just half an hour away in the car.
