The detail

Want to stay somewhere quintessentially British, but want to escape the more traditional options? Then check out Seabank, a sea front villa built around two 19th century Studley rail carriages and celebrate a bit of British steam history with your stay.

Set as close to the beach as you get without getting shingle in your shoes, you have prime access to the quiet and pretty much always uncrowded beach. The enclosed veranda offers uninterrupted sea views, so you can admire the waves with your morning coffee, or see the moon reflected on the water as you sit with a nightcap.

The interior is decorated in duck egg blues and creams, which gives Seabank an appropriately nautical feel. Every effort has been taken to make this a home from home, from the gorgeous kitchen, to the deckchair striped blinds that hang at the windows and the seagull table cloth, right down to the adorable sailboat bedding on the bunk beds. Every attention to detail has been applied here in order to create a home that is stylish, quirky and ultimately a joy to stay in.

Seabank is a place which is a delight to stay in during the summer months; light and airy, with a pretty beach garden that is perfect for picnics and barbeques. And during the winter months it is easy to imagine sitting cosily in front of the wood burner, as you listen to the crash of the waves breaking on the shore, happy in your warm, pretty carriage.

Apart from the obvious option; grabbing a bucket and spade and racing each other to the shoreline, there is a wealth of activities and attractions in the area. Chichester Harbour is an area of natural beauty and is a Special Protection Area for Birdlife. Birdwatchers will be in their element with many species of birds choosing to call this area home, if you’re not a birdwatcher then perhaps you would enjoy watching the boats bobbing in and out of the harbour, or just having a walk to take in the scenery. Chichester its self is a beautifully well preserved Georgian town, with an imposing cathedral and plenty of opportunities for shopping and dining. Visit Bosham, one of the prettiest villages on the south east (at least photographers seem to think so- and they do have an eye for these things). It is home to an ancient church, lovely little tea rooms and plenty of arts and craft shops.
