The detail

Just half a mile from the shores of Windermere in the stunning Lake District is Loveday. This 250-year-old cottage combines rustic and traditional charm with modern style to make it the perfect romantic stay.

Sleeping two guests, those staying will find their cosy holiday home tucked away from the hustle and bustle up a country lane. Step inside through the original front door and into the beautiful open plan living area. At one end is the sitting room, with the focal point being the stone fireplace with wood burner to kick back and relax in front of. There is also a comfy sofa and Smart TV. A breakfast bar island separates it from the handcrafted kitchen, which is fully equipped with an oven, fridge, dishwasher, and coffee maker.

Heading upstairs leads to the large and stylish bedroom. An Italian campaign bed, which is queen size, sits proudly at one end of the room, while it also has its own seated area and impressive design and decoration touches which blends the old with the new. Just as much attention to detail is also on the show in the bathroom, which boasts a Japanese Ofuro bathtub and separate shower, along with twin oak barrel sinks.

To the rear of the cottage is a private rear patio with sitting area and outdoor furniture. This then steps up into the garden, complete with gorgeous flowers during the summer.

The nearby fell is called Gummer’s How and offers fantastic views of the amazing landscape around Loveday. It is also just a 10-minute stroll down to Windermere - England’s largest lake. One of the best ways to see it is out on the water itself, with cruises that run the entire length of the 10.5-mile lake. Only 20 minutes away is Coniston Water, which is a more peaceful environment and has the Steam Yacht Gondola, as well as its own array of other boat trips.

Around Windermere there are plenty of other things to see and do. As well as its numerous pubs, cafes, and independent shops, attractions include the World of Beatrix Potter - which is all about the famous children’s author and is just one of a number of museums.
