The detail

The incredible Longleat Safari Park has three properties sleeping up to six, each beautifully situated, and ideal for families seeking a retreat from the hustle and bustle, surrounded by wildlife and idyllic views.

Prairie Lodge sits to the east of Longleat Estate on a ridge surrounded by wild fields and tranquil views. A Grade II listed stone cottage which dates to the 17th century, it has much charm and character both outside and inside. It has been beautifully decorated to create a cosy and welcoming home with comfy leather armchairs and a wood burner for chilly evenings. A fully equipped kitchen with an eight-seater dining table and bench seating is perfect for long lazy suppers, and there are two super-king size bedrooms both equally opulent with excellent bedding and mattresses. In addition there's a room with cabin style bunk beds which the children will love. A family bathroom has a deep bathtub and an overhead shower. And in the morning you can dine alfresco and enjoy the surrounding views as a well as the deer, rabbits and birds of prey.

Up next is Deer Keeper's House. This beautiful property has an extensive garden and is situated to the north-western edge of the parkland overlooking the sprawling grounds of the estate and its wildlife rich woodland. It has a wonderful traditional farmhouse-style kitchen with a large wooden dining table perfect for bustling breakfasts and cosy suppers. The living room is warm and inviting with a toasty wood burner for evening's inside playing board games, drinking wine and unwinding after a day of exploring. There's a snug with views of your own private garden where you can enjoy alfresco meals in nature on warm evenings. Two bedrooms on the first floor offer double beds in luxurious settings, one of which can be made into twins if required. The master bedroom on the third floor is fabulously opulent and boasts a roll top copper bath for indulgent starts to the day. There is also a family bathroom to share.

Finally, Gardener's Cottage is perfectly placed to explore the Park and its historic 'Capability' Brown parkland. This is a picture-perfect stone cottage with a lovely garden and a welcoming light interior. There is a cosy living room with a wood burner where you can relax in the evening with the family and play some games. There's also a lovely garden room with wicker furniture, perfect for sneaking off to with a good book. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped for the cooking of feasts and you'll find a separate dining room with an additional wood burner is perfect for convivial dinners. On warm days you might like to dine in the garden surrounded by nature and wildlife. There are three bedrooms, all stylishly designed. Two have double beds and one comes with a super-king that can be made into twins if needed. There is a shower room on the first floor and a full family bathroom on the ground floor with a bathtub and shower overhead.

As well as its incredible Safari experience, Longleat has much to offer, including stunning scenic walks, a vast lake set into the woodland, a huge hedge maze, the Longleat railway (a brilliant way to see this huge estate), and as guests at Longleat you will have entrance to all of the attractions every day of your stay and discounts to the restaurants and shops. It's impossible to get bored at Longleat, but if you do fancy a day outside of the estate you won't be far from Bath, where you can take advantage of the many spas, restaurants and shops. And Frome is well worth a visit if you love a town full of independent shops, artists, and bars.
