Situated in the rolling green beauty of rural North Wales, offering stunning vistas in every direction, Ilex Roundhouse is a wooden-construction traditional roundhouse, newly built and available to stay in as a self-catering property. Lovingly designed, fitted and decorated, Ilex Roundhouse is the latest addition to a small suite of similar properties located on a truly stunning patch of land, the perfect destination for individual travellers or couples looking to spend quality time together in the lush Welsh hills.
Ilex Roundhouse is the sort of accommodation where no detail has been overlooked, and the space itself is simply a joy to be in. From the rugs underfoot to the artisanal crockery to the cooking facilities, everything about Ilex Roundhouse suggests subtle elegance, high-quality and comfort. Although it is round in its design, Ilex Roundhouse 'faces' east with its largest windows, meaning that you're perfectly situated to watch the sun rise every morning from the comfort of your cottage. From there, start the day with a cup of coffee and breakfast from your very own hamper, and then take a stroll in the surrounding green space.
As well as a double bed in the open-plan main space, Ilex Roundhouse comes with a comprehensive bathroom, fully plumbed in and beautifully decorated, and a fridge, toaster and kitchen. There is also a hob and oven outside under the verandah, in true glamping tradition! As well as free Wi-Fi throughout, Ilex also comes with a Sony LED television, although many guests choose to take the opportunity to unplug from the digital world and immerse themselves in the beauty of nature and comfort of Ilex. Whatever the season, you're bound to be comfortable, with underfloor heating and heated towel rails, as well as picture windows to watch the evening light, or the rain lash down outside. The roundhouse also comes with its own private fire bowl where you can throw a few logs and stay toasty whilst sitting outside with a glass of wine.
As well as the famous Offa's Dyke walk, which runs close to the site, there are a number of hiking opportunities and footpaths snaking right past, many of which run to local gastropubs and small settlements. From ambitious and experienced hikers to more sedate holiday walkers, everybody can find a path which suits their level. You can find many historic churches, hill forts and castles without even leaving the Vale, while a forty minute road trip will bring you to Bodnant Gardens, and seventy five minute drive will bring you to the magnificent Snowdonia national park, home to the largest mountain in Wales. Closer to home, head to Denbigh market town for supplies, entertainment, and great pubs.

Leave a reviewWe stayed in Ilex roundhouse last year, and we cant wait to go back. The interior finish is IMPECCABLE on these, we were taking notes and photos of everything to take back to our own home. - it's really done to a high spec and they've really taken their time designing them. I still to this day talk about the breakfast we had there, they stocked all local PROPER bits for the full breakfast - I think it may have been an add-on. The views of the clywdian range and the sunrise over them was Unbelievable - so stunning. The walled garden is the main event - event though it was slightly drizzly we felt like the only ones in the world there, the owners made themselves scarce but when we wanted them they were there right away - and such charmers - we could have chatted all day. 100% recommended for anyone looking for. Highly recommend a hike nearby or a little trip to the ‘St Dyfnog’s Well’ that sits just below the local church - a small walk away. However you will be cold after the dip :) The Anvils potter by the church too is a must see if he is in, lovely chap. He also made all of the pots used in the houses! Everything is so tasteful and all of the local stock they pride themselves on using local and loving their surrounding. Highlights - Breakfast & walled garden - the exclusivity of them- drawbacks - There aren't more of them! or any outdoor bathing abilities (a big brass outdoor bath would be a massive pull).
