Set on the beautiful Charleton Estate, overlooking the Firth of Forth and nestled among rolling hills and lush woodland, this eco-lodge in Scotland offers a sustainable and peaceful retreat. Built from beautiful Scottish Larchwood, reclaimed slate and a sedum roof, it blends in with the surrounding rugged landscapes. After a day exploring the stunning coastline or a round of golf on the challenging Charleton Golf Course on your doorstep, soak up the views while relaxing in your outdoor hot tub as a fire crackles away in the open fireplace on the outside deck.
Inside, you'll find a large, contemporary living space with a corner sofa to snuggle up on after a long walk exploring the estate. Designed with the environment in mind, the lodge is heated using air-source heat pumps, with underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove to keep you cosy whatever the weather outside. There's a fully-equipped kitchen with everything you'll need to rustle up the family favourites or try your hand at cooking up some local Scottish treats.
After dinner, light the wood-burning hot tub and get a fire going in the outdoor fireplace and watch the evening draw in over the Firth of Forth. There are three bedrooms, two located on the ground floor and one up in the large mezzanine space. All of the bedrooms can be set up either as double beds or as twin beds, depending on your preferences, offering plenty of flexibility for different groups.
There's plenty to see and do in the area and the location is perfect for nature lovers and keen golfers. The 18-hole course on the estate provides a challenge while enjoying the stunning sea views. If you're staying on the estate, you'll also receive a discount on green fees or a free round if you're staying for a week. The famous St. Andrews is also just 20 minutes away with a handful of other excellent courses within a short drive.
If you'd rather explore the spectacular natural surroundings, head out on a boat trip to the Isle of May. Here, you'll find a nature reserve for puffins, guillemots, seals and many other coastal wildlife species. There are also walking trails right from the front door that will take you through enchanting woodland and along the rugged coastline, or you can head down to the village of Elie where you'll find some amazing watersports on offer.
