The detail

In the heart of the Grecìa Salentina, in Apulia, is Furnirussi Tenuta. As you approach this unique hotel, you’ll see the bright white of the building is enhanced by the bright green countryside that surrounds you, and once inside you’ll find that the natural light floods in with windows and balconies that open up onto the landscape. Gaze upon olive groves, old pastures and ancient cultivations of fruit trees, there’s even a fig plantation of 4,500 trees, the largest in Europe, and several native varieties of pear and apple trees, and all to admire from your window.
The traditional style of the hotel continues inside with a smart fireplace set in old stones emphasizes the refined design of the Tenuta in the lobby. Here, you can sit with a fresh coffee, fine tea, fresh seasonal fruit or pastry from the bakery.

The estate has 24 rooms and 2 suites. There are also 22 Junior Deluxe Suites that overlook a delightful courtyard at the back. All rooms are air conditioned and equipped with all the technology you’ll need with satellite LED TV, Sky HD, Wi-Fi and a phone.

Feed your belly with a traditional and seasonal menu at the restaurant of Furnirussi Tenuta, open for every meal of the day, or even just a cocktail. Delicious, local wine is also available. Outside, go wandering in the large gardens where you’ll find different Mediterranean plants as well as colourful fruits growing and a grove of camphor trees. In the middle is a beautiful swimming pool, which includes hydromassage and a natural solarium, an ideal place to relax. Furnirussi Tenuta also has a spa. Here you can enjoy a massage, lymph drainage or several different types of holistic treatment. Should you be in need of solace or advice, a life coach is also on hand.

When you’re in the mood to roam, jump in your car to explore the many different villages in the area, you’ll find markets, bars, shops and plenty of local restaurants serving traditional cuisine. You’re also only twenty minutes from the beautiful city of Otranto, where you’ll find plenty of places to swim in the sea, dive from the rocks and spots to go snorkelling. On dry land, there’s a stunning cathedral featuring large-scale mosaics dating back to the 12th century to admire, and many more places to eat or simply sit and watch the world go by.
